"Hello singers! Izzy here. Welcome to The Becoming Voice Studio!
I offer one-on-one weekly in person singing lessons, songwriting lessons, and artist development mentoring within Greater Geelong.
In my experience:
The level of safety we feel when we sing, directly relates to the level of safety we feel when we use the voice in general.
I have personally experienced this, and have observed this in every singing student I’ve worked with over my 8+ years of teaching - whether it be with young children, teens, or adults.
This may be especially prevalent if you are someone who experiences or has experienced:
-
Bullying
-
Anxiety
-
Trauma
-
Neurodivergence
-
Mental Health Struggles
-
Not feeling heard, feeling silenced, feeling like your voice doesn't matter
-
Been criticised when making mistakes
-
Perfectionism
I draw from music therapy techniques to guide our journey, so our work will look a little different to that of your standard singing teacher.
My intention is to provide a judgement-free space, where:
-
safety and trust in the voice can flourish
-
curiosity and confidence in self-expression can grow
-
your vocal technique and abilities strengthen
-
you can meet your vocal goals
For some, our work together may even lead into songwriting and/or performing, which may sound a little daunting at first! Ultimately, I believe in allowing the student to take the lead, and follow their guidance as to when and where they wish to venture into new territory.
Over the past 4+ years, my work has focused on providing music-based wellbeing support for children with mild intellectual disability and/or neurodivergence. This involved utilising music therapy techniques through singing lessons, songwriting lessons, instrumentation lessons, music production lessons, and performance practise.
Across my 8+ years of teaching, I have worked in a variety of settings: as a one-on-one voice teacher (both children and adults), co-running a high school band program, mentoring songwriting for a youth program, working as a guest speaker, and supporting students completing their Diploma of Music Performance.
I have a strong passion for helping those who may be on the quieter side find a way towards self expression through music.
I believe all of us are on our own individual path to finding our voice, and I am here to help you find yours."
Isabella has completed an Advanced Diploma of Music Performance and has 12+ years of experience in the industry as a working musician: writing, recording, and releasing music; performing (both solo and in bands); session musician work, and producing live shows. Most recently, she was 1 of 4 local artists selected to take part in the 2024-2025 GRID Series Program.
She holds a current Working With Children Check and Police Check.
